Facebook and Twitter are powerful tools for Social Marketing.

They allow you to connect with like-minded people all over the world and it’s fast, convenient, mainstream and free.

Here is a formula I’ve been using to leverage the power of Facebook and Twitter by using them together in my social networking.

Why both?

To keep it really simple, I use Twitter to build my list. It’s fast. Much faster to build a list of targeted people than Facebook.

I use Facebook to provide more depth and build better relationships.

From your Facebook page people get to read your notes, view videos, share pictures etc…

You can write longer messages which add more depth to your relationship building on Facebook than on Twitter where you only have 140 characters tot get your point across including any links to other information.

From Facebook, if people are interested in learning more about what you do and how your solutions can help them, they can click to get to your blog, your videos on Youtube or directly to your marketing funnel’s lead capture page to get on your personal newsletter.

The leverage is amazing!

Here’s what I’ve done to quickly get people from my Twitter list of followers, to my Facebook tribe:

1. You can use TweetLater (free tool) which allows you to create an automated “direct message” that ALL NEW FOLLOWERS receive to their Twitter page and their personal email. It’s on autopilot. Most people are losing it here… depserate for a sale of some sort, they use this powerful tool to spam some immediate offer. That can KILL YOUR SOCIAL NETWORKING fast.

My message simply says:

“Hey there thanks for the follow! Catch me on my Facebook page too here and don’t be a stranger! Cya…”

That’s it. I told you attraction marketing is simple.

So everyone that follows me on Twitter receives that message and it builds my Facebook list on autopilot. All I do is seek interesting people in my niche of choice and follow them. The culture in Twitter is to reciprocate the follow and that’s as simple as it gets.

2. I post update tweets and share quotes, information, news, tips and jokes on Twitter all the time and most times I provide the link to my Facebook page. People click and join me on Facebook.

3. I tweet SPECIFICALLY about joining me on Facebook. Why not?

“Hey, are you networking with me on Facebook> yet? C’mon over!”

PURE SIMPLICITY at work.

More Twitter tips.

By finding influential people and leaders in your niche and following them, you will be seen in their follower’s lists. This means you give yourself free exposure and as other people look to follow like minded people connected to the influential person (you) they see and follow you.

So by simply finding and following leaders in your niche, you’ll begin to grow your followers viraly, which is really cool. And remember it sets the whole cycle in motion.

How do I use Facebook?

It’s a powerful platform for a home based business owner. You can share YOU on Facebook. Profile. Pictures. Videos. Notes. Info on what you’re doing… etc.

I love using the “notes” application.

Attraction Marketing is all about sharing compelling information with others. Here’s how I do it.

1. Buy great information on personal growth and internet marketing. Now you have value to share.

2. I create blog posts of training info on my personal blog and also submit articles that get indexed by search engines.

3. I then create mini articles which link to the full articles on my blog and I publish those mini articles on Facebook’s “notes.”

4. I then invite my Facebook and Twitter friends to check out my notes, which leads them to my blogs or videos or articles… and then to my marketing funnel (lead capture page) and that is how I build my marketing list and get people exposed to my business, products, services etc.

So that’s it. A simple way to use Facebook and Twitter together to:

1. Build a tribe of followers

2. Build relationships with like minded people

3. Share valuable information and invite to your marketing funnel

4. Build your marketing list

5. Generate sales and build multiple income streams.

Did you know pretty much everything I’ve laid out here is free of any advertising costs as well?

The power and leverage your have at your fingertips is SHOCKING. All it takes to convert this free social networking leverage into multiple income streams is a little bit of creativity and your effort to share value with others. Nothing else stands in your way.

Marketing TribesA theme that seems to be popping up quite frequently these days is the concept of building your own marketing tribe that’s basically composed of a vibrant community of individuals just like you and me that help contribute to each others content by syndicating it using social media marketing tactics. But as with any marketing plan it needs preparation, sharp focus and a keen eye on detail. Social media marketing tactics mainly consists of contributing to your online communities and tribes by sharing powerful and valuable information but if you listen carefully there is much to learn from your tribes and social networking site if you just know how and where to start.

SO if you are looking for solutions to a situation, challenge, or need to research your market what is the most common and practical thing to do? Why you listen of course, maybe ask some questions but mostly record the feedback and just sit back and listen.

1. Listening To Your Tribe and Audience

Use the following social media marketing tactics to gain an advantage over your competition and pay careful attention to what your community is saying about the market and also about you.

  • Use Pipes.Yahoo.com to create one powerful RSS Feed that completely aggregates the results from Social Networking sites like Flickr, Digg, Youtube, Technorati etc…
  • Blogpulse.com is a specialized search engine that helps you patrol the social networking blogosphere with four tools – (1) Trend Search, (2) Featured Trends, (3) Conversation Tracker and (4) BlogPulse Profiles. Use them to track the conversation about you or your competitors.
  • SocialMention.com is a fantastic social media search engine that scans the internet compiling user-generated content from blogs, rss feeds, comments, bookmarks, events, news, videos and microblogging platforms like twitter.
  • Search the world of Blogs by utilising Trendpedia.com ‘s unique ability to monitor the “Buzz” online on any topics like a keyword, brand or topic to see whose blogging about the target topic and what they’re saying.
  • Keotag.com is a nifty little tool that searches the web for Tags. Whether you’re looking for single or combination tags Keotag can do just that. It compiles its results by scanning across several search engines and social media sites, including Google, Technorati, Del.icio.us, Twitter, BlogPulse, Newsvine, Digg, YouTube and others.

2. Develop Your Tactics and Strategy

Use the following tips to gain an advantage over your competition and pay careful attention to what your community is saying about the market and also about you. Take time out to develop a tangible marketing strategy to ensure you get closer to social media marketing success, but as with most things that are worthwhile it requires the patience sit down and work on your plan.

Save time by following the advice from professionals so be sure to read and listen to what they have to say and stick to it. Avoid throwing all your eggs into one basket like focusing all your efforts on Twitter for example. It’s better to identify multiple channels like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Myspace, and spread the time among them and grow your Tribe.

3. Contribute To Social Media

You’ve put down all the groundwork and started building your online relationships, so now it’s time to go out and participate and add value in your communities. You can do so by leaving comments in forums and blog posts, ask and answer questions in various social networking sites.
Obviously the point here is to participate in various social networks so open and create accounts and get active and respond fast when someone sends you a direct message.

4. Measure Your Progress and Success

Use the tools listed above in point 1 and various other online tools to help you track and monitor the Buzz online. Doing so enables you to keep track of which efforts are working best which in turn speeds up the process harmoniously. Remember to be responsive to messages, emails or any sort of communication. Failure to do so can result in potentially damaging your brand and your credibility.

Most companies are quickly learning that they ignore social media to their own peril. Remember that social media marketing tactics takes time and effort, so be patient and the rewards will be worth it.
